Specification:
The filter media must be suitable for use in a Moving Bed Biofilter (MBBF):
- High protected specific surface area of approximately 600-700 m²/m³
- Density as close as possible to that of water to ensure good suspension behavior and effective mixing
- High abrasion resistance for long service life and minimal generation of microplastics
- Open structure to allow optimal aeration of the bacterial cultures
- Chemically inert material, resistant to pH fluctuations, salts, and process chemicals
- Self-cleaning structure to ensure low maintenance requirements
The typical filling ratio when used in an MBBF is approximately 50% of the filter tank volume.
